How we fell in love?
Do you remember that moonlit night? My last day in town. I was leaving for U.K. to pursue my Masters.
We
lay on the balcony of your room. And even though you said nothing and
show no emotion, I knew how you were feeling. We were silent the whole
night, staring at the sky and counted the number of stars that lit up
there.
The
ground was wet from the evening's rain. The birds had stopped chirping.
The neighbouring houses had turned off all the lights. It was blowing a
cool, yet warm wind.
The
silence was not uncomfortable to us. It was the silence that we needed.
We were able to switch off from the world. For a moment we forgot all
our worries and fears. We enjoyed this moment of peace.
I
looked over at you. You looked at the sky, not so relaxed and happy.
Your black eyes gleamed in the moonlight. I watched you all night and
did not turned my eyes away even for a second.
Eventually,
you turned your head to me and smiled. I saw a tear running down your
cheek. But before I could say anything, you took my hand and held it
tight. You said nothing but the words were superfluous. We knew without
words exactly what the other was feeling at that moment. Security,
familiarity, gratitude, love.
It was the night that changed me and you. The night that we fell in love.
