Whatever it was!

Whatever it was!

There she stood staring blankly at me, her eyes made me nervous. I had met this girl everyday for three years in the bus. I liked her, there was something very striking about her. But never before she looked at me as she did today and the only exchange between us had been from the corner of my eye. As she checked me up and down, my brain bombarded with thoughts.

What 's wrong with me? Uncertain, I touched my nose to remove any embarrassment quickly. But, everything was in perfect order. My hair? One does not stare anyone, just because the hair looked a little confused. My clothes? For heaven's sake! I hope it was not torn from anyplace. Everything should be perfect and it was perfect. But what was it? Why is she looking at me with a look that shook the foundations of my self-consciousness?

I could not even ask. On one hand, that would be the easiest way to learn the truth and then there was also no better way to embarrass yourself completely.

While I still acted like an idiot, busy looking for errors in my appearance, she took me to the corner of the bus and spoke:
" Is there something on me? You are looking at me so strangely that I almost believe to be an alien. If you do not mind, I would like to know what is it that irritates you so much! "

Nervously I murmured:
"I wanted to ask you the same thing. Can it be that today is something very striking about me? Are my clothes too funny or something wrong about my face? Maybe a bird sitting on my head?"

And she suddenly began to laugh.

"My name is Pia. Pia Khanna. And you?", she asked with a grin.

This scene took place eight years ago. Meanwhile, Pia and I have a sweet little girl and our family was added by a cheerful looking boy yesterday. To this day, I have no explanation for what happened back then in the bus. Pia feels the same way. Something must have happened in our minds that day or it was cupid playing his game.

But then, it does not matter. Whatever it was - it was good!
