Little Magic

Little Magic

He had noticed her some time ago, but she had never dared to throw more than a quick glance in his direction. As he stood there with the paper cup in his hand, which he had just taken from the coffee machine, she was fascinated. He fascinated her. However, after a timid glance she looked away from him and began walking nervously towards the station gate.

The nervousness grew with each passing day. Every morning when she left her home, she wondered if he would be back. She wondered if he would wear his black tie again, longed for the moment when she would discover him in the crowd and then sink for a tiny moment in his deep blue eyes. Hardly, a morning passed by when they did not meet at the coffee machine. She looked forward to the moment 7:20 to 7:23. Eventually, she started a few minutes earlier from home to catch him like that. It was a ritual, like a little magic.

She stood at the coffee machine, inserted the coin and pushed the buttons. Coffee with a little sugar, no milk. Then she turned to the gate of the station and waited. 7.20 Virar train was here and shortly thereafter, the crowd rushed past her. Everyone was on their way to work, each with their own history. But for a brief moment their paths and all the individual stories united. She found him getting down from his regular compartment. Determined, he ran to the vending machine and fed it with coins. Then he pressed the buttons. Coffee with a little sugar, no milk. He took the cup and stopped. Now their eyes met, 7.22 , time stood still. Feeling shy, she drooped her eyelids, grabbed the plastic spoon and stirred her coffee. When she looked up again, she saw him leaving the station. This little moment of magic appeared very short to her. But as usual she shook off the thoughts and went back to her daily routine life. During the day, she would hardly think about that man and the evenings were hers alone. But as soon as she left the house in the morning, it was again there. The slight tingling anticipation of their joint two minutes.

This morning she was running late and thought she would miss him. But when she walked through the bridge she saw him, between the people running around. He headed for the vending machine, rattling the coins in his hand. She was waiting at the corner, pretending she was looking for something in her bag. As he turned around, 7.21, sipping his coffee, his eyes wandered through the station until it found hers. A second and another glance then looked away. When she looked up, he was still there. This was unusual for him; she knew he was always in a hurry. Surprisingly, she discovered her friend Tamanna show up next to him. The two greeted each other. This confused her, as it was not at all fitting into her everyday happenings. But before she could free herself from these thoughts Tamanna came smiling towards her. The man followed her." Hi Pia" said Tamanna. "I want you to meet somebody. This is Prashay." She looked into his deep blue eyes and the man smiled at her, but the magic was gone. The little magic was lost.
